The reason I became a chiropractor was because of my mother’s experience with migraine headaches. She went to specialist after specialist in our health care system but received very little relief and only medications as a solution. I remember she called me after her first adjustment. She was so excited to tell me that she went in with a migraine and came out 80% better after only the 1 treatment. She had full control of her migraines after a month of care. That was when I decided to pivot from being a strength and conditioning coach to go into chiropractic.
You are not going to let a mechanic work on your car without popping the hood first. It is the exact same reason, we want to see what is going on inside the body. First we want to make sure it is safe for the patient, making sure that there aren’t any fractures, displacements, etc. Then we want to see how the structure of the spine is. Does it have a rotational element, what do the curvatures of the spine look like, are there any genetic anomalies, degeneration, etc. Not only does it give us direction on what chiropractic techniques to use, but it also helps us to understand the condition of the spine and how we might be able to improve it and take additional stress off of the spinal cord and nerves
Applied Kinesiology is one of over 130 different chiropractic techniques out there. I fell in love with Applied Kinesiology because it utilizes muscle testing to diagnose the patient. As a former strength and conditioning coach, I was already very educated on the muscles of the body so it was a very easy transition. Each strong or weak muscle helps me to figure out what is going on with the patient.
